Talk to us about your desire to change the color of your teeth, whether do it at home or in the dental chair.
Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple way to change the color of your natural tooth enamel and is an easy way to enhance your smile.
There are a number of ways to whiten your teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system. If you’re in a hurry, we also offer an in office tooth whitening system as well. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to consider replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any old restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Tooth whitening requires a little maintenance. A touch-up may be needed every so often. More often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.
What does tooth whitening involve?
A take home system usually requires three visits. At the first appointment, impressions will be made of your teeth to create clear custom trays.
At your second appointment, we will try the trays in and check for a proper fit. You will then receive instructions on how to use your whitening kit. It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time that you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching. We will also take a starting shade at that time.
We would like you to return in another couple of weeks so we can see the progress, check your gums and make any adjustments as needed.
